Ikorodu Constituency II Seat: Who Gets Ijede Mandate To Face Incumbent, Hon Solaja?

The nine aspirants for the Ikorodu Constituency II seats from Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) will have their fate determined today on who gets the Council’s nod to represent it in the primary election next month.

As many as ten aspirants are aspiring to represent the constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ijede LCDA alone.

After a meeting with aspirants on Wednesday in Ijede, party leaders resolved that there will be a shadow primary where ward executives in the council would vote to determine who gets the mandate to represent Ijede’s interest.

The Council has been at a loggerhead with Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, who is from Imota LCDA and who has not only insisted on vying for a third term against the rotational arrangement in Ikorodu Constituency II and has  proceeded to obtaining the party’s nomination form.

As a result, the resolve of party leaders for a single aspirant whom the entire Ijede would stand by instead of a case of multiple aspirants vying at the moment.

THE IMPACT reports that aspirants from Ijede LCDA who would be participating in the shadow poll are: Hon. Fathiu Jimoh Salisu, former Chairman, Ijede LCDA; Hon. Olugbenga Akinwale Oshin, former member, Lagos State House of Assembly; Mr Olakunle Aliasau Matti, Senior Local Government Staff and Youth leader and Mr Bello Yusuf.

Matti Olakunle Alliasau, a chartered accountant, administrator, teacher, senior council official and community leader per excellence, is among the few aspirants that have made their intentions to vie for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly come 2023 General Elections, known.

The aspirant, who is contesting based on his exposure, resourcefulness, academic standing, antecedence in community and political arena and understanding of his environment, said that his early life sacrifices and engagements presents him as the most qualified person for the seat.

He was born in Surulere but lost both parents in his tender age. While in primary 5, Kunle moved to Ijede in Ikorodu Division area of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, to be with his aged grandmother and was enrolled at the Anwar – Ul – Islam Primary School and later moved to Luwasa High School, Ijede, for his secondary education.

Hon. Gbenga Oshin and Mr Olakunle Alliasau Matti

The aspirant’s paternal family is from Ebute Olowo compound in Ijede while his mother was from the Agbaje family of Shokun Royal family and Solumade – Ojikutu Royal family in Itundesan, also in Ijede.

He also has great connection with the Ikorodu and Igbogbo parts of the division.

Olakunle Matti donated a borehole water project for the use of residents of Ojuyemoro/Oju Ogun community in Ijede which is still functioning till date.

He founded the Greenlight Concept which was designed to provide tutorial classes, nurtures and encourages young people to study and pass their WAEC, GCE and JAMB in Ijede.

The aspirant is also the immediate past President, Development Platform (DP), a platform which membership cut across the Ikorodu Division.

Prince Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun

Prince Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), a leading youth leader and community developer was nominated for the Commissionership position from Ikorodu Division at the beginning of Governor  Babajide Sanwo – Olu’s administration.

Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun is a noble son of Egbin, Ijede, Igbogbo, and Ikorodu towns. He is a descendant of the Gbarule Royal Family of Egbin Kingdom, a wing of the Obateru Royal Family in Ijede Local Council Development Area. This lineage extends to the Onadugba wing of the Rademo Royal Family of Ikorodu. Through his mother, Hammed also hails from the Ogunmuyiwa branch of Ladega royal family of Ijede, Ijede Local Council Development Area.

Both of his parents also had ancestral roots in Igbogbo, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area. While his father is from the prominent Aroyewun family of Itun-Perufu in Igbogbo, his mother is from the renowned Odusegun family of Itun-mokun, Igbogbo. His extended families have strong affiliation to the prestigious Itunabosan and Itunla communities of Igbogbo, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area.

Education

Hammed was educated at Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo, and Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School, Igbogbo.

He was trained as a teacher in Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education in 2002.

He had his Undergraduate studies at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago- Iwoye, Ogun State and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2007.

He is currently pursuing his master’s degree at the University of Lagos, Akoka.

Career

From 2007 to 2008, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun served the compulsory one-year youth service at the Yobe State Government Secretariat.

In 2010, he joined the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Supervisor where he has continuously deployed his skills, charisma, and tireless energy to increase the revenue base of the state. He rose through the ranks to his present level of Revenue Officer.

Political Engagements

Hammed has picked keen interest in politics right from his formative years; his alignment has always been with the progressives. He is a strong member of the All Progressives Congress till date.

He has served diligently as member, Evaluation and Monitoring Committee, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Independent Campaign Group, 2018 – 2019. The committee provided quality information for giving impetus to the campaign and for advancing the electioneering activities of Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

He was also screened and nominated by the Ikorodu Division APC Apex body to serve as a Commissioner in the present Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu led administration.

He was a member of the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Local Organizing Committee (2021) for the election of Senator Tokunbo Abiru as Senator, Lagos East SenatoriaL District.

He is currently the Coordinator, Youth for ABAT, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.

Hammed has a long track record of community service.

He currently serves as Vice Chairman/Director of Programs, DE. Vanguard, a socio-political group domiciled within Ikorodu Division.

He is a distinguished member of the Egbin Emancipated Youth Movement.

He is an active member of the Concerned Ikorodu Division Youths.

Hon. Gbenga Oshin

Hon. Olugbenga Akinwale Oshin, popularly called, ‘Omo Oshin’, is a former Member, Lagos State House of Assembly. He represented Ikorodu Constituency II in 2011, after he won a bye – election as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on December 12, 2010, following the death  of Hon. Rotimi Sotomiwa who was then the incumbent representative of the constituency.

He hails from the Oluwo Okujumo and Oshinbokuren Royal family in Igbogbo and Oreshe Anifowoshe Royal family in Ijede, which makes him well rooted as indigene of the two Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) which are among the three LCDAs that made up the Ikorodu Constituency II.

His wide political network, having worked with many leaders in the constituency, Ikorodu Division and State at large, put him in a good stead for the coveted seat.

Oshin studied Local Government Administration at the National Centre for Economic Management and Administration (NCEMA) and obtained a Higher Diploma in Management at the University of Ibadan (UI) and studied Physical Education at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos. He was a former student of Oriwu College, Ikorodu, and St. Patrick Catholic School, Yaba.

He is the Managing Director, Grand G. Arena, Chief Executive Officer, Grand G Multi – Resources Limited and also Chief Executive Officer, Hutchinson Ventures and Farms. He was a Senior Personnel Officer, Oshodi/Isolo Local Government. He was a former staff of Nelco, Oshodi, Romo Nigeria Company Limited, Igbogbo and Prince Ade Aje Company.

He joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999 but left to joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

Mr Aro Mashood Abiodun

Aro Moshood Abiodun popularly called ‘AMA’ was born and raised in Ijede LCDA under Ikorodu Constituency II.

Educational Qualifications

AMA attended Anwarul-Islam Primary School in Ijede, Ikorodu Constituency II.

Luwasa High School in Ijede, also in Ikorodu Constituency II.

He studied Accounting at Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos State.
